Also, happy Valentine's Day, everybody! Some people don't like this holiday, but I think celebrating love is always good. Valentine's Day is for everybody! I had an idea for a wallpaper about that, but I had it tooooo late. So maybe I'll do that some other time. Regardless, even if you're single, like your favourite webcomic author is (I MEAN ME), that's no reason you shouldn't be happy today! Love your friends and family, love yourself, relax, eat chocolate, whatever. And if you don't want to, you don't have to do anything! And if you ARE in a relationship... you still don't have to feel pressured to do anything special, hopefully! Especially don't feel pressure to spend money!
Where was I going with this? UUUH... OUTFITS! I came up with Nitrine's outfit a while back, perhaps you've even seen it before. Trying to look fancy and tall is what she wants. I had more trouble coming up with Zintiel's outfit, especially since I set myself up in the story saying it had to be especially cool. I tried several things in sketches: some with armor, some samurai-style things, but the stuff I liked best was what fit the description I ended up writing in page 801 (which is why I wrote it there). I still iterated a bit after that, including asking for opinions from a costume expert (I mean TappyToeClaws). For Marelle, I wanted to give her a very scholarly vibe. Or maybe a school teacher vibe, depending how you look at it. This of course meant her outfit would look a lot like some previous outfits she's worn. But as a twist, I figured I'd make it mostly whitish, because this time Zintiel's outfit was going to be so black. I also decided to change her hair a little – just made it a bit poofier version of what she had most recently. I decided all this basically as I was drawing the page. Arlen kind of got the same last-minute treatment. I gave him a slightly fancier outfit than his usual, since he is on an official diplomatic delegation right now. But I also went back to nearly exactly the colours of his very first outfit. They just work for him, you know?
